This is Me and I have it all!

Hello and welcome to my first Blog Post! Who would have thought I would start a photography business (during a Pandemic?) I sure didn’t. What a time to be alive!

Like many, I was raised to at the very least graduate high school, and get “a good paying job with benefits.” I’m a good girl from the MidWest… So what did I do?… I graduated high school and entered a four year college. I majored in Dance. My very supportive parents were so encouraging. They didn’t care what I majored in as long as it was some form of education. (Well, my Father did try to nudge me to math and science.) I always leaned more toward the arts and creative aspects of life.

It’s no wonder why I picked up a camera. I’ve been photographing anything that moves for approximately my whole life. I was always the one that took photos during every event. For that matter, I was and still am the only one that does hair and makeup for everyone too. That’s me, the multi-talented photographer extraordinaire. I've got it all… ; ) .

I’m sure my love of photography, makeup, hair, and all things beauty and luxury stems from my time as a dancer and figure skater. I was constantly surrounded by cameras, sequins, ruffles, hairspray, and tons of makeup. Most importantly, I was given the gift of learning body awareness and shapes. Obviously, this skill is very useful for my current photography career.

My Mother had me in a tutu at the age of 3, and by 11 I was competing every weekend at figure skating competitions. I should mention, that I single handedly forced and willed my parents into letting me do all of these activities. I was my own “stage mom.” I carried that sense of performing, discipline, and aesthetic through to adulthood. It has served me well in every point of life.

When I moved to New York City after graduating college in 2003, I found myself trying to survive on very little. Very little food, very little money, very little space, very little everything… I think you get the picture. It was New York. I was a dancer living my dream in the big city. I had four jobs and worked seven days a week. One of those jobs ended up being a part time not so professional headshot photographer for my friends. (If you want to ask me about the celebrity dog walking job… I’ll address that in another blog. Just more fun facts about your incredibly talented photographer.)

I worked as a professional dancer for over a decade, as well as a makeup artist, and a corporate cosmetics sales executive. All of these careers mixed well and kept me looking at the creative aspects of life. I also kept taking photos during these times… with everything from a Polaroid instant camera to one of the first very basic digital cameras during those years. I started doing full photoshoots with that digital camera (borrowed from my boyfriend.) It was that same boyfriend, that bought me my very first Canon years later. I’m so grateful… and I am still a Canon user today.

Years passed, I got married. We had two kids. Moved to sunny San Diego for my Husband’s career. I met friends that needed maternity photos, and just like that they ignited my passion for photography again. This brings us to the present day. You are all caught up.

Now, it is the time for me to take beautiful memorable heirloom photos of you.

I want to hear your story. I want to capture and celebrate You!
